PSHEE & RSE
Preparing our learners holistically as they move into adult life.
Within the Yellow pathway learners will demonstrate and apply the British Values of Democracy, Tolerance, Mutual respect, Rule of law and Liberty through everything we do. We aim for our learners to demonstrate a healthy outlook towards school – attendance will be in-line with national and behaviour will be good. Self regualtion and appropriate peer relationships are embedded into our teaching. Our learners will become healthy and responsible members of society being fully informed to make appropriate choices and decisions about relationships and sex education. Despite thier age and stage of development we ensure that sex and relationship education teaching is tailored and appropriate to each learners needs. Our aim is to nurture children on their journey preparing them for life and managing safety both in and out of school.
Within the Green pathway learners are taught PSHEE & RSE through our Wonderful Me and Healthy Me strands. Students explore positive relationships and develop self regulation skills. They develop their personal social and emotional skills as well as linking to other curriculum areas related to the body and world around them. They begin to understand how to take care of themselves and how to stay healthy. Within this area we encourage independence through life and living skills, touch and taste sessions, learning opportunities during personal care and dressing, lunchtimes. There is a strong focus on developing resilience and independence so that our learners are confident individuals.
Within the Blue pathway learners are exposed to body changes, modelled positive relationships and growing health and independence. This is acheived through structured self care routines, modelling, co-regulation and cooperative engagement to promote good relationships and sex education appropriate to thier developmental age and stage.
Within the Purple pathway body changes, relationships and self care are taught through the My Body and My Independence subject areas. Students have daily self care routines modelled with facliitated engagement along with teaching the importance of these elements within every day life. They learn about body changes, different relationships and health and independence by observing, co-participating and then moving towards independence in each area.
