The World
Developing an understanding of the world around us. Geographical & historical knowledge, understanding of different faiths and beliefs, cultural and religious identity.
Within the Yellow pathway we aim to help our learners develop an understanding of the world around them. They recognise physical and human features and develop a thirst for knowledge through practical experiences. Within History we encourage and develop interest, enjoyment and enthusiasm and to experience elements of History through sensory learning and first hand experiences that are topic based. This promotes curiosity and enquiry. Within RE we enable pupils to acquire knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other religions represented in Great Britain. Ultimately we aim to develop the ability to explore, reflect on and respond to human experience. We develop an understanding of culture and languages through our teaching in MFL. We recognise that many of our learners struggle with the acquisition of the English language so do not teach formal MFL teaching until students reach Key Stage 3. Though an understanding of themselves we teach healthy living, physical skills and activities to develop well rounded individuals.
Within the Blue pathway our learners are immersed within the world around them. They have different sensory experiences encompassing the world around them to promote engagement and interaction. They are encouraged to recognise known experiences and develop familiarity and permanence.
WIthin the Green pathway our learners explore the world around them, access to shops and cafe's, transition visits (post 16), assemblies, shared activities with other classes, lunch and break times and school trips.to help learn practically and develop social skills. They develop an awareness of their community, their own and others history and beliefs and what makes up the world around them.
Within the Purple pathway our learners explore the world around them through parrallel and shared play, social experiences and practical awareness of their community and own history and beliefs. Learners explores and respond to human experiences linking experiences and ideas.
