Transition into School

Once the Local Authority have decided that a place can be allocated at Highfield Littleport we are then able to organise appropriate transition arrangements.

All students will have an initial tour of the school prior to the offer of placement.  This aims to ensure that the potential student is familiar with their surroundings and parents & carers can see the facilities that are available. Once a placement has been confirmed by the Local authority this will be confirmed by them in writing. We will then organise a pre-admission meeting.  This meeting is between the parent/carer and school staff to discuss the students needs in detail and identify any particular provision which is required.

If required potential students are offered transition sessions in order to familiarise themselves with their new school and meet the staff who will be working with them. If these are required they need to be accompanied by a member of support staff from thier current setting.

Students are provided with social stories and photos to help introduce them to our school.
